About Us - Devine Health Education

Cheryl Devine

Our founder has lived in various regions across the world and currently calls Yorkshire, in England, home. She recognises the importance of education as both a preventative and recovery tool. Early work involved supporting young people who were being exploited, using substances or at risk of significant harm and families in the child protection system. This work highlighted the importance of preventative education and shapes the organisation to this day.

In Cheryl’s own words:

“My style is authentic, working with you to make a difference, supporting your organisation in a strengths based way. My approach is collaborative, working to build positive relationships. I have a wealth of experience in Public Health and Education, working as a content creator, coach, facilitator, and trainer. Living and working across the globe means I understand the complexities of different regions and the need to have culturally sensitive education and procedure, at the heart of everything we do.”

Qualifications

Over 20 years of experience working with schools, youth and educational settings. Masters qualifications in health, mental health first aid, leadership and management, designing and delivering training. Sexual health train the trainer. Working towards coaching qualifications.

We have children and young people’s welfare at the heart of everything we do. We understand the challenges of modern day education and are able to build rapport whilst gently guiding the whole school community.

Cheryl has been working with Year 12 students on the issues of consent, harassment and abuse. She pitches it at a level that is appropriate for them and I receive great feedback from both staff and students.

Cheryl has been amazing. She provided a safe space to open up and discuss my own struggles without judgement. I felt I could have real open and honest conversations. I really liked how Cheryl would use questioning to encourage me to reflect and dig deep. We sometimes get so lost in our own thoughts that we believe them all to be true. When being questioned, it makes you think of alternative explanations which has been really helpful.

The session was interactive and the conversations on our tables and throughout the training room encouraged me to really think about what we were discussing, and have a space to voice my thoughts. My thoughts can often wander off in training, so this kept me on the ball. The training was serious but there was room for a giggle which is always welcome.

I really enjoyed coaching. I was at ease all the way through and felt like I could share personal and work related matters without any issues. I was always given plenty of time to respond to questions and it never felt rushed. I would recommend everyone should be coached once to learn about themselves.

Cheryl is very professional and knowledgeable and her sessions are interactive and informative. We will be asking Cheryl to return in the next academic year and look forward to developing more bespoke training with her for our wider teams.
